Becky Kelway
My name is Becky Kelway and I have been a Local Guardian for White House Guardianships since August 2017. I am friendly and outgoing. I love meeting and helping people. I love travelling and learning about how people live in other parts of the world and I encourage my children to enjoy travel and culture too. I speak French and German and I am a qualified English language teacher to adults. My husband James and I love to cycle and grab any opportunity to explore the Hertfordshire countryside.
I know what it is like to live and study abroad as I spent time studying in France and Germany when I was a student. It can be daunting and exciting in equal measure. I like to think that I can support our students as studying in the UK becomes more familiar to them. It’s fascinating to appreciate our differences and understand our shared cultural experiences. As a volunteer for the Refugee Council, I am very aware of how we have so much in common despite sometimes originating from opposite sides of the world.

About the Area
I have lived in St Albans sincce 2005and I love it here. We enjoy welcoming students in to our neighbourhood and showing them around. We are perfectly located by a public heath with a playpark and a quick 10 minute walk in to the centre of the city. St Albans has a rich history and museum all about the Roman settlement. St Albans boasts a wide array of restaurants and a twice weekly market dating back to the 10th century. The train station is less than a mile from our home. The journey time to London St Pancras is only 20 minutes.
We are also surrounded by beautiful countryside and we regularly walk in Heartwood Forest with family and friends.
